Snow plowing question 3 Months ago
I saw the recent posting about VDOT providing snow removal, but I'm still curious as to why Zulla Chase was not plowed or sanded.  As far as I could tell, every other street was plowed and sanded and was down to pavement by Sunday afternoon.  Zulla Chase seemed to have been ignored by VDOT and the contractor.

Were any other other streets completely missed?  I did a drive through the neighborhood and it looked like everything else was plowed and sanded.

Matt,

I would bet VDOT just missed it. I will notify TOLL and see if they can help navigate the VDOT MASS so they do not miss you all again.

We put up a page on the website that has the details of who is supposed to plow each road and some VDOT documents.

Can we get Toll to take another pass at this with the VDOT. It is obvious our street is just being ignored. If you go out to the intersection at Oatlands Grove all roads in every direction except Zulla Chase have been cleared and are down to pavement. This morning at the bus stop the roads on Zulla Chase are still in a dangerous state. With more snow in the forecast, it would be nice to get this fixed so Zulla Chase conditions are comparable to every other street in the neighborhood.

Matt,

Toll is aware, the HOA is aware you neighbors are aware and agree that this is not acceptable or safe. That being said the HOA has very little to do with this and can only act as a advocate, which we are and will continue to do. For what it is worth the HOA is as frustrated as well since this simply should not happen. I would like to thank you for being civil this is not the case with at least one of our neighbors.

Suggestions for you.
1. Call VDOT to complain 703-383-VDOT (8368) (if you find a better number please post it)
2. Call your loudoun county Board of Supervisors
Stevens Miller
Office Phone: 703-777-0204
Fax: 703-777-0421
e-mail: stevens.miller@loudoun.gov

The HOA will be doing the same thing until this is corrected. Sometimes it helps to have others call and state there issues.

Will

Hi,

Good news: as of 12:45 p.m. Zulla Chase Pl. & Welbourne Woods Dr. had been cleared and treated by VDOT.

What we've done to date to try to rectify: spoke with Toll Brothers, spoke with and left messages for several VDOT offices, contacted Stephens Miller's office who e-mailed VDOT and is awaiting a reply.

Lastly I went over to VDOT this afternoon with a large map of the community & route numbers in tow. I assured them I was there as a "problem solving ambassador". They were very nice and familiar with the community. They feel the problem is somehow related to the LCP cutting through the community. I explained to them that the route numbers for Zulla Manor Pl. (Ryan Rd. - Chase) and the Zulla Chase Pl. (Gleedsville access) are the same and probably should be different (2510). By the way, Zulla Manor Pl. isn't in their system and god willing they'll keep plowing it. They asked me to double check the existence of route numbers and I did when I got back. I think that is the source of the problem from the driver's standpoint anyway, there is not a 2512 at the intersection of Welbourne Woods & Oatlands Grove. I reported it, but they said they should still be plowing even if there isn't a number.

VDOT has already followed up with me once since I got back and has promised to check in with me again tomorrow so hopefully it'll work out.

Sincerely,

Kristi Felouzis

As a follow up to this another resident was able to get some traction via another method. He sent an email to:

VDOT Leadership
Morteza Salehi
Northern Virginia District Administrator

Morteza.Salehi@VDOT.Virginia.gov
www.virginiadot.org/about/salehi.asp

Thanks to this resident for helping on this.
