FY 2012-2016 County School CIP being Considered – All LVE residents should become familiar with the 2011-2016 County School CIP and how it affects your school-aged children.  LVE is part of the Dulles North School District; not the Ashburn School District.  The Superintendent is recommending that HS-6 in the Dulles North School District (located in Loudoun Valley 2) be constructed to open in time for the 2013-14 school year. Residents in the Ashburn School District are asking the County to build the Ashburn District HS-8 two years earlier than the 2015-16 opening that is recommended by the Superintendant.  This change could push back the opening of the needed HS-6 to a point that Briar Woods could see a capacity 198.5%.  County staff projects that it would take 71 trailers to meet the needs of the growing communities in the Dulles North School District by 2015-16.  In comparison, The Ashburn School Districts would only be at 109% capacity or require only 13 trailers spread between two schools.  The CIP also affects the middle and elementary schools and the timing of their construction.  Residents are encouraged to become familiar with the entire proposed FY 2012-16 CIP and communicate their concerns to the School Board.  The School Board will meet on Monday, December 6th at 6:30pm to further discuss the CIP.  Adoption of the FY 2012-16 CIP by the School Board is planned for Tuesday, January 11, 2011.
