| YOUR GRASS NEEDS YOU NOW! (pdf version) Fall Is the Best Time to Repair and Reseed Sunny Lawns Achieving and sustaining a nice looking lawn is a process. Success with the process requires being faithful to a plan consisting of several elements all of which must be completed in a timely fashion. In order to gain full benefit from any single element of the plan, the lawn renovation process requires adherence to scheduling, patience, and some investment of time and cash. Good results can be well worth it. Remember, it takes up to two years to grow a “picture perfect” lawn. Most of us would be satisfied with achieving a “good’’ lawn. Great improvement can be accomplished in just a few weeks in autumn. Mid-August to mid-September is the time of year to renovate or spot-repair lawns. The objective is to take advantage of the very best seasonal opportunity for new grass plants to mature, for deeper root growth, for survival and over-wintering of newly planted grass, and get set for a healthy, robustly growing, and, near weed free lawn next spring and throughout summer. Ideally, this means weeds (and the potential for weeds) should be well under control and new grass should be growing robustly enough to need mowing two times prior to end of November. |

Phase 2 will begin at the Wiehle Avenue Metrorail Station, move westward serving Washington Dulles International Airport and will end near Route 772 in eastern Loudoun County.

With the support of the Board of Directors the Open Spaces Committee has contracted with a firm to clear dangerous trees in proximity to the walking paths. The work is in progress and will be completed over the next several weeks. This work is part of the OSC's plan to save our trees many of which are in distress for one reason or another. As funding permits work will be done in all of our tree save areas to remove/chip the fallen material, trim, de-vine and plant new trees to ensure we have trees for years to come. The OSC has done a great job at getting the survey done, and the plans are in place to ensure this community has trees for many years to come. |

On August 31, 2009 a bicycle was stolen from the garage of a home on Piedmont Hunt Terrace. Their garage door was left open, as is a common practice, while one of the homeowners went jogging. The other homeowner was home at the time. If you saw someone take this bicycle, please report it to the Loudoun County Sheriffs Department. Please try and give an accurate description of the person or persons who took this bicycle. |

Not only is it unsafe but parking on the street in the wrong direction (driver side to the curb) is illegal in Loudoun County (see item 10 below), and the State of Virginia. Please take a moment and refresh your memory on the parking laws. |
